Founded in 1951, IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards is designed to appreciate and support PhD students that address focused areas of interest in technology.
IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Eligibility Criteria
• Applicant must be nominated by a doctoral faculty member — he or she cannot nominate himself or herself.
• Applicant must be enrolled full-time in a PhD programme over the academic year of the award or forfeit the fellowship.
• Applicant should have two years left in his or her programme at the time of nomination so the fellowship can be applied to the last two years of study.
• An interested that is from United States embargoed country cannot apply for the programme.
• Interested students who are receiving educational funds from other scholarship or fellowship bodies cannot apply for this fellowship award.
• Interested students must remain in the same programme for the duration of the award — they cannot transfer to other departments or schools.
IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Benefits
• The reward for universities in the United States is $40,000.
• The reward for other countries is between $6,000 and $25,000.
Fellows will be shortlisted based on
— their research ability. All fellows will have an IBM mentor for the period of the fellowship programme.
— the degree to which the applicants’ research goes with IBM focus areas.
